AT LEAST seven robbers broke into a Metrobank branch in Binondo, tied up the employees and security guards, and made off with cash and the bank's surveillance camera early Thursday morning, July 11.

A police report said two of the perpetrators were wearing a security guard's uniform while another, who had pretended to be a bank client, was wearing a shirt marked with the logo of ride-hailing service provider Grab.

The incident reportedly happened around 8:40 a.m. Thursday at the Sto. Cristo branch of Metrobank.

The suspects had fled when the police arrived at the scene. Police were still determining the amount of cash taken.

In a statement, Metrobank said no clients were affected by the robbery incident.

“Metrobank condemns the robbery at our Sto. Cristo branch in Manila earlier today. No clients were affected by the act and all Metrobankers are safe,” the bank said.

“We will be working closely with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended,” it added.

Manila Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso offered a P1-million reward to anyone who will be able to give information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
