HEALTH Secretary Francisco Duque III is on self-quarantine, although he is not experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed.

“Yes, Sec. Duque is on home quarantine, but currently asymptomatic,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire confirmed to reporters in a text message Thursday, March 19.

Vergeire said Duque was tested for Covid-19 because of his underlying health problems.

“He has already been tested for Covid-19 test as he is asthmatic and hypertensive,” she said.

Test results will come out in two to three days.

In the meantime, Duque will be working from home for the duration of the quarantine period until April 14, 2020.

Duque was reportedly exposed to a DOH official, a director, who tested positive for Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus. (SunStar Philippines)
