Bad weather mars Talisay City fiesta

Vince Harlan A. Chua

A FLUVIAL procession in Talisay City dedicated to St. Teresa of Avila had to be cancelled yesterday morning because of strong waves.

The activity would have been one of the the highlights of the city’s annual fiesta celebration.

Instead of proceeding with the fluvial procession, the image of the city’s patron saint was brought to her namesake parish in Barangay Poblacion through a caravan from the fish port, passing the Cebu South Coastal Road and Barangays Pooc, Biasong and Dumlog.

Alvin Santillana, Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head, said he and members of the fiesta committee heeded the Coast Guard’s recommendation to cancel the event in which more than 60 vessels were set to participate.
