Bonuses under review

LOCAL government employees in southern towns will get their productivity enhancement incentive (PEI), up to one month’s salary, after the Provincial Board’s (PB) final review.

At least four towns have submitted the necessary documents to the PB: Barili, Moalboal, Dumanjug and Balamban.

PEIs will be given to employees and municipal officials in accordance with Executive Order 181, which President Benigno Aquino III signed last May 15. It’s supposed to “motivate employee efforts toward higher productivity.”

The PEI for fiscal year 2015 is equivalent to either P5,000 or one month’s basic salary as of May 31, 2015.

In Barili, at least 96 employees will receive it. Based on the document provided by the Provincial Secretary, Barili appropriated P1.9 million for the incentives.

These will be taken from savings in the General Fund from 2012 to 2014, among others.

Moalboal allocated P1.5 million. Mayor Inocentes Cabaron said more than 60 employees will receive it; the town will charge the incentive to its General Fund, market operations and waterworks.

In Dumanjug, a total of P1.6 million from the General Fund and revenues from the market, waterworks and slaughterhouse was intended for the PEIs.

Balamban allotted P3.4 million for the municipal officials and employees’ incentive. Balamban Mayor Ace Stefan Binghay said about 100 employees including elected officials will benefit.

The PB’s committee on budget and appropriations headed by PB member Grecilda Sanchez will review all the documents submitted.
