THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has defended the alleged high salaries of its employees after the Senate decided to investigate the alleged excessive salaries of employees of state-owned firms.

BSP governor Armando Tetangco Jr. said the BSP makes it a point to offer competitive salaries to get the best people and retain them.

He added that the salaries of a regular BSP staff are about the same as that of regular employees of private banks while the salaries of higher ranking BSP officials are even lower than the salaries of private banks officers. (Sunnex)
