Council wants own building

Sunnexdesk

TO FACILITATE the delivery of services to the public, Baguio City Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas has proposed for the construction of a legislative building to be located right beside the one-stop shop building at the City Hall grounds.

"In line with the constitutional provision and in order to facilitate efficient public service and to maintain the standard required from public officials in the exercise of public functions, there is a need to construct a new building designed to transact business easier and faster and in a manner convenient enough to meet the demands of the public," Farinas said in a proposed resolution.

The resolution has asked Baguio Representative Bernardo Vergara to bankroll the construction from his priority development assistance fund.

Farinas said the current offices of the city councilors are cluttered and the workplace is not conducive for an eight-hour work.

He said cubicles at the old City Council office are crowded and the arrangements of offices are not systematic to cater to public needs as well as of their own employees.

Farinas said the construction of a new building for the City Council would help address public grievances and needs. (Rimaliza Opiña)
