LA TRINIDAD, Benguet –- A covenant for Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections (Hope) is set to be signed on March 16, at the Capitol grounds.

Priests and pastors from various churches with local candidates and incumbent officials with the Philippine National Police (PNP) will converge for the signing of the peace covenant.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and PNP have spearheaded the covenant signing hoping for peaceful elections come May.

The signing of a peace covenant helps ensure the conduct of the local campaign and balloting to be orderly and credible.

In the province, congressional candidates as well as aspiring governors and board members will lead the signing with Baguio-Benguet Bishop Carlito Cenzon as main witness.

Comelec provincial officer Elenita Tabangin will oversee the event with San Jose parish priest Benedict Castandeda, Jonathan Obar of the Epiphany Church and Pastor John Fianza of the North City Church. (Ma. Elena Catajan)
