Ferrer opposes UNA-Love Negros merger

John Roger "Darlah" Orquiza

FOURTH District Representative Jeffrey Ferrer expressed his disapproval to the merger being worked out between the United Negros Alliance (UNA) and Love Negros for the 2016 elections.

“When we talk of a merger it should be acceptable from the provincial positions down to the lowest level," said Ferrer, who belongs to UNA, the coalition chaired by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.

The outgoing lawmaker said that he is contemplating to run for vice governor or mayor in the 2016 elections. However, he refused to confirm if he will be Marañon's running mate.

Ferrer said it would be Marañon, who is seeking a third and final term, who will make the official announcement at a proper time.

He added that they are also ready to field candidates in the Fourth District.

In October last year, Marañonn Jr. confirmed that UNA has been eyeing the possibility of fielding Ferrer for vice governor in 2016.

Marañon and Ferrer had a closed door meeting at Balay Kauswagan in Sagay City on Thursday, along with some mayors and other local officials.
