Town councilor, son found positive for drugs released

John Paul Villanueva

A COUNCILOR of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, his son, and a municipal employee were released from the custodial facility of the town police station Tuesday after they were detained for 18 hours for yielding positive drug test results.

Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, chief of Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station, said Municipal Council member Jolomar Hilario, together with his son, Francis, and employee Emilio Catague were released at 2 p.m. upon the advice of Mayor Magdaleno Peña.

Peña talked to them at the police station when he visited them, Reloj said.

A total of 126 male municipal personnel underwent a drug test initiated by the town’s police station on Monday, held at the mayor’s office after the flag-raising ceremony.

The three were among the first 95 officials and personnel who submitted urine samples.

Hilario’s son Francis is a casual employee assigned at the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, while Catague is a regular employee of the Municipal Agriculture Office.

Reloj said criminal charges will be filed against them if confirmatory test in Manila will still have the same results.

On Tuesday, another batch underwent the same procedure, including nine out of the municipality’s 15 barangay captains.

The results of the other municipal personnel and the barangay captains were all negative.
