Tragic Valentine’s Day for couple in Bago road mishap

A COUPLE died while their four children and three others were injured in a multiple-vehicle collision on Crossing Kamatis, Barangay Sampinit in Bago City, Sunday, February 14.

Police identified the fatalities as Henry Boncalon, 49, and his wife Cherrie, 42. Their injured children are aged 15, 14, 11, and seven.

The Boncalons are residents of Barangay Busay.

Also injured were the couple’s young relative, aged 10, and Sherryl Castillo, 17, of Barangay Taloc.

Initial police investigation showed the Nissan Sentra driven by Jimmerjade Obsella, 27, of Barangay Bata, Bacolod City, hit the tricycle it attempted to overtake around 7:15 p.m., Bombo Radyo Bacolod reported.

The tricycle, driven by Alan Kang, then collided with another tricycle, boarded by the couple and their children, the radio report said.

The victims were rushed to a hospital, but the couple died on the way.

Obsella, who is also injured, is now detained at the city police station.
