Truly Pinoy!

IF THERE is one thing about Filipinos that continue to baffle other nations, it is our penchant for food -- good, simple, unpretentious food.

Who can ever say no to the sweet aroma of chicken or pork barbecue being grilled, or the colorful delight of fresh fruits, or steaming rice?

And what better way to indulge in good food than with the company of family and friends?

Things are the way we used to enjoy it when we were still in the university or high school, when we enjoyed a good meal of an array of grilled chicken and pork at the city's favorite barbecue place -- Penong's.

A few good years later, the things we love most about Penongs are still there and it just brings back a wave of nostalgia. Remember the days when you still had the appetite to eat more than one cup of rice?

While its newest branch is still a few months old, Penong's in Lanang, offers the same great taste and value for money that we all enjoy. Chicken was still cooked the way it was: cooked to the bones and still juicy. Rice, it was served steaming hot the whole night.

Owned by young entrepreneurs Vanessa Mae Santos, Erwin Santos, and Christopher Tan, the newest Penongs branch made indulging in good old Filipino food easier now and is made available for lunch and dinner.

With its clean and simple interiors, the new Penongs Lanang keeps the focus on where it should be -- the food. Also, the clean lined interiors also make Penongs Lanang the ideal place for just about everyone to relax, unwind, and enjoy.

After all, nothing could be more delish than a hearty meal served with a heap of good company and overflowing laughter.
