A 26-YEAR-OLD woman was shot dead while onboard a passenger multicab on the national highway in Barangay Cansaga, Consolacion, Cebu, around 10:35 a.m. Thursday, September 21.

Police identified the fatality as Rachel Apilan, a resident of Barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla, Cebu.

She succumbed to a gunshot wound in the nape. The slug tore through and exited the right portion of her cheekbone, before hitting the right shoulder of a male passenger.

Police Officer 2 Jorge Tapales said no one saw the gunman and the driver of the motorcycle since it happened so fast.

Investigators are still clueless as to the motive behind the incident.

Initial investigation showed Apilan rode the multicab in Barangay Cotcot, Liloan, Cebu, before the shooting happened. When they reached Cansaga, the multicab driver stopped to ferry a person.

The motorcycle-riding assailants stopped behind Apale, then shot her at point-blank.

Police recovered an empty shell of .45 pistol from the ground.

The male passenger who was hit on the shoulder was declared out of danger. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
