Businessman backs Cayetano’s House speakership bid

Reynaldo G. Navales

ANGELES CITY -- Pampanga Chamber of Commerce (PamCham) president Rene Romero has expressed support to the House speakership bid of Taguig City Representative Alan Peter Cayetano.

Romero said Cayetano possesses the characteristics and ability to lead Congress.

“Of course with my relationship with Alan and I know his capacity and ability to lead, we support and we ask the government to consider the speakership for our good friend and former senator and DFA secretary Alan Cayetano who is now the congressman of Taguig,” Romero said.

With Cayetano’s wit and “wise guidance to Congress, more legislative programs will be accomplished,” according to the businessman.

“Congress will be more liberal in terms of legislative actions for the further development of the country,” Romero said.

He added that Cayetano, when he was a senator, became a close friend of PamCham. “Senator Alan Peter Cayetano believed that when we say Clark is the future of the Philippines in terms of aviation.”

The new Taguig solon also believes that Clark Freeport is the ideal place for an investment hub, Romero said.

Incidentally, former Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president Arnel Casanova was able to convince the government that we must put up a smart city better than the Bonifacio Global City in Metro Manila, the PamCham head added.

“We are lucky that when the campaign period, Vince Dizon was the point man of Alan Peter Cayetano. When President Duterte won as president, our group and development agenda for the Philippines including the development of Pampanga and Region 3 were prioritized,” Romero said.

Pampanga should thanked Cayetano and Dizon for their contribution to the development of Clark, he added.

Romero said he introduced Cayetano to Pampanga-based businessmen and political leaders.

“In spite of the fact that he is from Taguig, Cayetano believes that there is a need to decongest Metro Manila and his heart is in our place,” the business leader added.

He said President Duterte included Central Luzon for his priority development programs because of Cayetano, Dizon and the PamCham.
