THE Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3-High Value Crops Development Program (DARFO3-HVCDP) inaugurated the 10,000 bags capacity onion cold storage facility at the Sapang Multi-purpose Cooperative of Barangay Ablang Sapang in Moncada, Tarlac.

Sapang Multi-purpose Cooperative is confident that onion storage will be a big help for the farmers of the cooperative and their town to further increase the income from onion and eliminate the middlemen who usually buy their product at very low cost.

According to Regional Executive Director Crispulo Bautista Jr., the department will ensure that more facilities, like the onion cold storage, are built in Central Luzon to also avoid losses to our farmers.

Also attending the turnover ceremony were High-Value Crops Development Program and Rural Credit Project Development Officer IV Jose Jeffrey Rodriguez, DARFO3-HVCDP focal person Engr. AB P. David, Apco-Tarlac Ricky Manguerra, Moncada Mayor Estelita Aquino, Municipal Agriculturist Eduardo Balgos Jr., and members of the Sapang Multi-purpose Cooperative.

The onion cold storage is from the project under Bayanihan II HVCDP in 2020.
