CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Central Luzon recently provided livelihood packages to displaced workers of a supermarket in Porac town.

Dole awarded P20,000 worth of sari-sari store livelihood packages to 17 displaced workers of the Chuzon Supermarket.

The supermarket collapsed during a 6.1-magnitude earthquake on April 22, 2019, killing several people.

The livelihood assistance packages were distributed by Dole-Central Luzon Chief Zenaida Angara-Campita.

"We hope that you cherish and grow the livelihood assistance given to you," Angara-Campita said, adding that they will monitor the status of the sari-sari stores with the help of the Porac government unit.

Public Employment Service Office Manager Sheryl Bulanadi said they are also in full support of the beneficiaries given the unprecedented closure of Chuzon Supermarket has affected their community.

It can be recalled that after the collapse of the Chuzon Supermarket, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered temporary closure of all Chuzon stores in Pampanga until such time that the structural integrity of these premises is ensured, and all necessary permits were complied to.
