IT WAS a day off from all hustle and bustle of everyday life as the City Government of San Fernando sponsored a pampering day for thousands of Fernandinas in time for the celebration of International Women’s Day Friday, March 8.

Several services aimed at providing relaxation to women such as haircut, manicure and pedicure, massage, as well as film viewing and bingo were offered for free during the whole day activity held at the Heroes Hall.

“Because women deserve it,” said Gender and Development Focal Person Amy Catacutan.

Catacutan said the activity benefited at least 3,000 Fernandinas simultaneously. It was the city government’s way of recognizing the active role of women in community-building and the development of the City of San Fernando.

“The fact that that the city government is giving even just a day to relax and have some fun is a representation that it is recognizing the efforts of women from all sectors in the activities that are geared towards the development of the city,” she said.

She also stressed that the city government continuously holds activities that promotes gender equality and women empowerment to inculcate to every Fernandino the importance of each member of community, irregardless of his or her gender.

“The city government wanted to inculcate to every Fernandino, especially youth, that each member of the society has the same with everybody else, no matter what his or her gender orientation is,” she said.
