Kapampangan products, crafts, and services are showcased in a trade fair at SM City Pampanga as part of the 447th Aldo Ning Kapampangan (Pampanga Day) celebration.

The Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCEDO) said some 50 stalls of craft products, food delicacy companies, furniture, religious crafts, and processed food, among others, are available in the agriculture and industrial trade fair.

Locally-made products like ceramics from Sto. Tomas; metal works from Macabebe; glassworks from Apalit; and delicacies from Sasmuan and Sta. Rita are also showcased.

Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda wanted to generate support for local industries and promote these in provincial and regional level through the support of its private partners.

The Aldo Ning Kapampangan commemorates the founding of Pampanga as a province.

Pampanga, according to history, was the first province and the richest spoil created by the Spaniards in 1571. It was named after the Indung Kapampangan River, the largest river in the former empire.

Ancient Pampanga’s territorial area used to include portions of the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Tarlac and Zambales in the big island of Luzon of the Philippine archipelago.

Pampanga, one of the richest provinces in the Philippines, was re-organized as a province by the Spaniards on December 11, 1571.

Every year, the province hosts shows and events like food and trade fairs as well as cultural performances in commemoration of the province’s founding anniversary.

One of the most anticipated events is the coronation night of Mutya Ning Kapampangan which honors the most beautiful ladies from the province’s towns.

On December 11, from 5 p.m. onwards, the awardees of the Most Outstanding Kapampangan awards will be formally presented.
