Masantol dad eyes vice-mayoralty seat

MASANTOL -- An incumbent and three-termer councilor in this town yesterday said that he is welcome to the idea of running for the vice-mayoralty post in the coming May 2019 elections.

Councilor Boboy Lacap told SunStar Pampanga that he is ready to seek for the second top position of this town and heed the clamor of his Masantoleño voters who have been his supporters since he entered the political arena at an early age.

Lacap was first elected to public office as Barangay Sto. Niño Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman and later an ex-officio Sangguniang Bayan member after being voted as president of the Federation of SK Chairmen in Masantol from 1992 to 1996.

During the May 2010 elections, Lacap returned and ran as town councilor where he secured a seat at the Municipal Board. He was re-elected during the 2013 and 2016 elections, and is set to finish his nine-year full term in 2019.

Lacap hails from a political family where his father, Epifanio Lacap, Sr. served as local chief executive for three successive terms and was appointed by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as undersecretary of the Department of Health.

His mother, Corazon Lacap, meanwhile, succeeded the local chief executive post from the elder Lacap after being elected as the first lady mayor in 1998 and served for two consecutive terms until 2004.

If he pursues the plan, Lacap said he will run under the slate of incumbent Mayor Danilo Guintu who is also set to seek re-election in the coming May 2019 midterm polls.

Aside from Lacap, two personalities including incumbent Vice-Mayor Ralph Nulud and incumbent Councilor Chris Bondoc are also reportedly eyeing the vice-mayoralty position in the coming polls.
