CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Pampanga volunteers organized by Governor Dennis Pineda have returned from more than seven days of helping in relief and rescue operations of affected residents in the recent eruption of Taal Volcano.

But Pineda was quick to pledge the return of the delegation for more support to affected areas.

"In the few days that we were in Batangas, we saw in the face of Batangueños the joy from the little help that was extended by Kapampangans. What greatly pleases us is their gratitude in the little help that we have extended. While we return home for a while, we promise to return," he said.

The governor added that the recent events have only bolstered the beginning of a relationship between Batangas and Pampanga.

Volunteers from Pampanga provided medical attention to evacuees affected by the recent eruption of Taal Volcano.

Some 3,952 evacuees were attended to by Pampanga Medical Team at Batangas Provincial Sports Complex in Barangay Bolbok in Batangas. The team was led by Provincial Health Officer Marcelo Jaochico. They provided medical check-ups and medicines to evacuees in the area. The Pampanga contingent also distributed some 28,320 packs of rice and canned goods to affected families.

Pineda had also coordinated with Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas in the clearing operations of the 30-kilometer road in San Nicolas and Agoncillo. The vital road way had been buried in ash that was strewn during the eruption.
