THE Department of Agriculture (DA) in Central Luzon distributed 135 sentinel piglets and 405 sacks of feeds to members of the Kaisa Women's Organization (KWO) of Tarlac City recently in a bid to boost local swine production.

The distribution of sentinel piglets and feeds is under the Livestock Program of the Department of Agriculture Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) which corresponds to the Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Repopulation program of the DA.

A total of 45 KWO members received three piglets each and nine sacks of feeds.

The program aims to accelerate the recovery of the pork sector from African Swine Fever (ASF) which is a three-year program that offers a combination of interventions to start and revive this industry.

Regional Technical Director Lapuz reminded the beneficiaries that in case the piglets encounter any health problems, they should be immediately referred to the City Veterinary Office for immediate action.
