2 dead in Leyte drug bust

TWO suspected drug personalities were killed in a joint drug bust in Matalom, Leyte Monday, June 24.

Authorities identified the suspects as Leo Fuentes and Rodrigo Reyes, both of legal age and residents of Matalom town.

Personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and 802nd Brigade Philippine Army said they tried to arrest the two newly identified drug personalities around 9 a.m. Monday when Fuentes and Reyes fired at the operatives.

The anti-narcotics agents fired back, killing the suspects.

Confiscated during the operation were two plastic sachets containing a substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing MOL 1.0 gram and with an estimated market value of P6,800.

Also confiscated were one M16 rifle with one loaded magazine containing 11 pieces of ammunition, and one M14 rifle with three magazines. (SunStar Philippines)
