Eastern Visayas cops nab 3 ‘rapists’

JOINT police operatives of Eastern Visayas apprehended three most wanted persons, including an 83-year-old man, who are facing rape charges Saturday, June 5, 2021.

Estercacio Oriol, 83, and a native Barugo, Leyte, was arrested in Las Pinas City, Manila.

Oriol, rank 4 most wanted-regional level, was facing two counts of rape and three counts of rape through sexual assault, based on his warrant dated March 26, 2021.

Authorities also arrested 21-year-old Marjone Pirante in Pasig City, Manila, following his warrant dated December 17, 2019, for rape.

Pirante, listed as rank 3 most wanted person-provincial level, is a resident of Lawaan, Eastern Samar.

In Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, police operatives arrested Romeo Tumampos, 58.

The accused, identified as rank 6 most wanted-municipal level, is facing a warrant dated March 6, 2001, for a rape case in Hilongos, Leyte.

The arrests were also made through the assistance of the police counterparts in the said areas.

According to the information released by the Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas, the courts did not recommend bail to the accused. (SunStar Philippines)
