Tacloban mayor urges kids, youth to join summer sports clinic

Ronald O. Reyes

TACLOBAN Mayor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez has called on the parents to enroll their kids or youth in a city-sponsored summer sports clinic as classes ended this school year.

The mayor said that enrolling the children in various sports events will develop their “self-discipline, self-esteem, and teamwork.”

Kids, ages four years old, can try taekwondo classes, while six years old can sign up for karatedo (free) and basketball.

Children ages seven years old and above can also enroll in futsal (free), sepak takraw (free), swimming, and golf (free).

Other sports offered are table tennis (free), chess (free), badminton, and dancesport, the City Government said in a statement.

“First come, first serve,” it said.

Registration ends on April 12.

The enrollment (inclusion) fees range from P500 to P4,000 depending on the sports event.

The sports clinic will start from April 6 until May 31.

Interested to enroll in the sports clinic can visit the City Sports Office at the second floor of the Tacloban City Convention Center (Astrodome) or text/call 0909-8601713 or 0916-384-4215. (SunStar Philippines)
