THE Wright-Taft road in Eastern Samar is now open to the riding public after the clearing operation at Barangay Binaloan, Taft was "substantially completed."

In an advisory, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (Dpwh-Esdeo) said the road is already passable to all types of vehicles and will be opened to the traffic at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2020.

However, the road will be automatically closed during the rainy season for safety reasons.

"Motorists are advised to pass with caution, watch for falling rocks and debris as clearing operations is still on-going on site," said engineer Jason Espeso of Dpwh-Esdeo, adding that the department shall issue subsequent notices as the condition of the road progresses.

On January 3, the Wright-Taft was closed after a landslide hit the area due to heavy rains.

At least two passenger buses and a van were trapped in the area after being hit by boulders and mudslide.

However, no one was injured during the incident.
