A BRANCH of a courier firm in Zamboanga Sibugay lost huge cash and valuables in a robbery perpetrated by two gunmen, the police said Wednesday, August 28.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 9:05 p.m. Tuesday in Poblacion village, Ipil, the capital town of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Galvez said that Gretchel May Dy, 31, reported to the police in Ipil that she was about to leave the office of the Ninja Express Tech Philippines, Inc. when two unidentified gunmen barged into the courier firm’s compound.

She said Dy, the branch head of the courier firm, reported that she was forced, at gunpoint, to return to the office and open the cash vault by one of the gunmen while the other suspect disarmed the security guard, Jeobert Gumalad, 27.

Investigation further showed that the suspects locked Dy and Gumalad in the office and fled aboard a motorcycle carting away P830,000 cash and other valuables like two cellular phones, a laptop and wallet containing assorted identification and automated teller machine cards.
