2 nabbed, over P1-M shabu seized in anti-drug sting

TWO alleged high-value drug suspects were arrested while over P1 million worth of illegal drugs seized in an anti-drug operation in this southern port city, a top police official announced Thursday, April 7.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspects as Gary Kalon, 54, and Nasser Sahi, 54, both residents of Suterville in San Jose Gusu village, this city.

Lorenzo said were arrested in an anti-drug operation around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Purok 11 in Calarian village, this city.

Lorenzo said seized from the two suspects were some 150 grams of suspected shabu worth P1,020,000, a sling bag, 92 pieces of P1,000 bill as boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill as marked money placed inside a brown envelop.

He said the anti-drug operation was launched following weeks of surveillance on the illegal activity of the suspects, who source out their supply from the province of Tawi-Tawi.

He commended the joint operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit, ZCPO’s Station 11, 904th Mobile Company, and from the Philippine Air Force for the successful anti-drug operation.

He said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
