POLICEMEN arrested two people and seized some P700,000 worth of contrabands as the anti-smuggling campaign continue in Zamboanga City.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested persons as Baning Salih, 42, and Brazil Mudjahirin, 38, both residents of Tugbungan village.

Lorenzo said the two were arrested by joint operatives of ZCPO’s Station 7 and Bureau of Customs (BOC) around 6 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Sitio Talungon in San Roque.

Lorenzo said the two were arrested when operatives of the ZCPO’s Station 7 and BOC operatives intercepted a van loaded with contraband while conducting checkpoint operation.

He said both Mudjahirin, who was driving the van, and Salih failed to present documents of their cargo consisting of 20 master cases of assorted cigarettes worth P700,000.

He said that the van and the confiscated cigarettes, vehicle and two arrested persons were later turned over to the BOC. (SunStar Zamboanga)
