33 drug offenders undergo reformation program

SOME 33 drug offenders are undergoing reformation program at the Balay Silangan Reformation Center in Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Police Colonel Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, said the drug offenders comprised the first batch clients to undergo reformation program, "with the aim of reforming them and be reintegrated to society."

Larubis said they started to undergo reformation program starting November 17 on the day the Balay Silangan Reformation Center located in Aguinaldo village, Naga, was inaugurated.

The 33 drug offender-enrollees have undergone assessment, medical examination and drug test screening supervised by Dr. Ma. Socorro Sta. Cruz, Naga municipal health officer, which conducted assessment and medical examination, said Larubis.

Meanwhile, he said a memorandum of agreement between Naga Municipal Government headed by Mayor Rino Delos Reyes, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and other stakeholders for the operationalization of Balay Silangan Reformation Center was also signed during the inauguration of the facility.

The Naga Balay Silangan Reformation Center is the 17th facility that has been established in the region. (SunStar Zamboanga)
