POLICEMEN have arrested six people and seized P361,920 worth of illegal drugs in two anti-illegal drug operations Wednesday, November 10, in Bongao, the capital of Tawi-Tawi.

Police Major Annidul Sali, Bongao police chief, identified the arrested suspects as Nelson Amanun, Asiah Arik Aldinon Arpa, Benjie Hamsaluddin, Sam Halilullah and Dawin Arabain.

Sali said that Amanun, Arik and Arpa were arrested Wednesday, November 10, in Tubig Tanah village, Bongao after they received information from a concerned citizen.

“They were conducting mobile patrol. They received information from a concerned citizen about the ongoing drug peddling activity in Barangay Tubig Tanah,” Sali said.

He said seized from the three suspects were 51 grams of substance believed to be shabu with an estimated value of P346,960.

The other three suspects, Hamsaluddin, Halilullah and Arabain, were arrested in another anti-illegal drug operation Wednesday, November 10, in Simandagit village, Bongao, according to Sali.

Seized from their possession were 2.2 grams of substance believed to be shabu with an estimated value of P14,960.

The suspects were detained, while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them.

Police Brigadier General Eden Ugale, Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region director, lauded the active support of the community and the determination of the operating personnel to end the illegal drugs menace in Bongao.

Ugale said the confiscation of shabu worth more than half a million pesos in about three days is proof of the command’s relentless effort against illegal drugs. (SunStar Zamboanga)
