MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has issued Executive Order (EO) 557, mandating the temporary closure of the streets leading to the former Lantaka Hotel by the Sea.

This, as the Task Force coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is utilizing the former hotel as isolation area for patients under investigation (PUI) for Covid-19 with mild to moderate symptoms based on a memorandum of undertaking dated March 19, 2020.

The Lantaka Hotel by the Sea, which is supposed to be the oldest hotel in Zamboanga City, is now known as the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (Adzu)-Lantakan Campus, since it was donated to the Jesuit-run university.

Among the streets that were temporarily closed through Salazar's EO included the portion of N.S. Valderosa Street from junction of Corcuera to junction of Felicisimo Marcos Road and junction of Pettit Barracks effective immediately due to the urgency of the concern caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Salazar said the temporary closure of the roads is intended to protect the neighboring communities and establishments.

City Hall Information Officer Sheila Belen Covarrubias said that at present, there are four persons under monitoring (PUM) who are housed at the Lantaka isolation facility.

Covarrubias said they are the relatives of the Covid-19 confirmed patient, a 29-year-old male, single, who works and has travel history from Manila.

Meanwhile, Salazar said the patient, who was locally named as ZP-01, has been named by the Department of Health as Patient 613 (PH613). (SunStar Zamboanga)
