Mayor wants schools in danger zones checked

Sunnexdesk

ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has instructed the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to immediately undertake remedial measures for public schools situated in danger zones.

Salazar said there are schools in far-flung villages that are situated in areas highly vulnerable to landslides, floods, and other risks.

She cited the Limpapa National High School, which is located at the foot of a mountain and is at risk from a landslide.

Climaco-Salazar hinted that the city government will purchase a lot outside the danger zone and relocate the school.

In the meantime, remedies would have to be taken to ensure the safety of students and teachers in Limpapa, she added. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
