NPA rebel arrested for murder

POLICE have arrested a wanted person who turned out to be a New People’s Army (NPA) member in a law enforcement operation in Zamboanga del Norte.

Dominador Samsom Gumabat alias Ka Tamsi, 54, has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder with no recommended bail issued by the court in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte dated January 10, 2014.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said Gumabat was arrested around 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, in Sitio Lilic, Barangay Tinuyop in Leon Postigo town.

Galvez said the police had targeted to arrest an NPA leader named Leonido Nabong alias Ka Baste and his followers. Gumabat was allegedly one of Nabong’s followers. (SunStar Philippines)
