COUNCILOR Cary John Pioc, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation president, has vowed to work for the betterment of Zamboanga City.

Pioc, 20, also pledged to stay apolitical and to “stand for what is right and just.”

He has attended his first session on Tuesday, July 4, 2018 as the ex-officio representative of the youth sector in the City Council.

Pioc was elected as the SK chairperson of Mercedes village during the May 14, 2018 barangay and SK elections and was elected as the SK federation president during the general assembly on May 25.

The youth leader said he will craft ordinances, policies and resolutions that will address the needs of the local youth sector.

He also called to hasten the approval of the Local Youth Development Council Ordinance, which is still pending in the august body.

The proposed ordinance was authored by youthful Councilor Benjamin Guingona IV and has already hurdled the first reading.

The measure, once enacted into an ordinance, will facilitate the mapping of all existing youth programs in the city. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
