THE Department of Agriculture (DA)-Zamboanga Peninsula, through its High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), has provided 40,000 pineapple suckers to the Maya Farmers Association in Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur.

Rad Donn Cedeño, DA regional executive director, led the turnover of the pineapple suckers in a simple ceremony Tuesday, October 19, at the association's farm area in Maya-Maya village, Tambulig.

Cedeño hopes and anticipates that the pineapple production in May-Maya village would be successful.

Vivian Mocoy, Maya Farmers Association president, expressed heartfelt gratitude, on behalf of the association members, to the DA and assured that pineapple will really be planted by the members.

Representative Divina Grace Yu of the first district of Zamboanga del Sur, also reassured the farmers that the government delivers its promises under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Yu also thanked DA Secretary William Dar for the support given to the farmers in the province of Zamboanga del Sur.

“DA is here to support the farmers in providing what they need in establishing this pineapple farm. With the leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the responsibility of DA Secretary William D. Dar, helping the farmers to attain #MasaganingAni at #MataasNaKita is our priority,” Cedeño said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
